Barbara Putman
Born in Worcester, Ma in 1954, Barbara studied Art and Art Education at the University of New Hampshire, followed by Graduate work in Art History at Harvard University. Haystack has been a major factor in her development as an artist, shaping her ideas with experiment and new materials. Travel has been an important educator as well-- most recently to Svalbard, for the Arctic Circle Residency aboard a tall ship, sailing 800 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
Barbara teaches drawing, printmaking and a survey course in Art History at St. Mark’s School and in the 2012-2013 year for her sabbatical she was the Coastal Studies Artist in residence at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME.
